They're looking for staff, volunteers and traders.

The organisers of the 2019 St Pauls Carnival are promoting opportunities to get involved in this year's event.

Taking place on Saturday 6 July this year, the free event needs volunteer team, partners and supporters to help stage the free event which is attended by over 100,000 people.

This year's theme is ‘Our Journey’.

The carnival team say they're organising for the following roles:

Paid work roles

There are a few paid-for job roles which the event management team has available for forklift; 7.5 tonne truck drivers and general maintenance/handy people to assist with the stage assembly and break down. The work is between 2 – 9 July. Anyone with relevant experience should send their contact details and details of relevant skills to: admin@stpaulscarnival.org.uk

Volunteering

This is the backbone of Carnival and is a great way for people from all backgrounds to gain experience or give back to the community. The huge range of volunteering roles cover six key areas: production; outreach/street team; creative – helping out at workshops; craft/design/photography; on the day live crew – including stewards, stage staff, runners, artist liaison; post event – litter pickers, clear up crew. In return for time volunteers receive references, relevant training e.g. first aid, access to events and official after parties and a commemorative Carnival t-shirt.

Anyone interested should get in touch with the volunteering team: volunteer@stpaulscarnival.org.uk

Be a trader

There are opportunities to apply to sell or trade at the event for both food and non-food traders. There is an official application process, anyone interested should contact: trading@stpaulscarnival.org.uk

Become a Friend of Carnival

This is a new scheme for St Pauls Carnival designed to encourage people and small businesses to become long term supporters of the event which is focused on long term sustainability. For information on the Friends scheme contact: kate@korconsult.co.uk

Business/corporate opportunities:

Carnival runs thanks to the support of its partners. The Arts Council, Bristol City Council and UWE have long term partnerships with the organisation, however, there are a host of additional opportunities for businesses and corporate partnerships. Corporate partner packages start from £1000. Partners gain access to exclusive pre-Carnival events, on the day brunch and access to the Carnival community to encourage inclusion across the city. For more information contact: kate@korconsult.co.uk

Commenting on the opportunities St Pauls Carnival’s executive director, LaToyah McAllister-Jones, said: “This year’s Carnival is going to be more inclusive than ever before and we are looking for people as passionate as we are about having this event in Bristol long into the future, to collaborate and work with us, meet new people, gain new skills and above all enjoy the day and make Our Journey theirs.

“St Pauls Carnival is a vibrant expression of our city’s wonderful diversity and an event that brings dozens of communities together which is why we’ve created new opportunities to reach more people.”
