Recycle Your Electricals
Recycle Your Electricals is a UK-wide campaign encouraging and supporting more people to reuse and recycle their old electricals – saving precious resources from being lost forever.
Old electricals are one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world - and the UK. Thousands of tonnes are thrown away or hoarded every year.
- UK households are hoarding 527million small old electricals - an average of nearly 20 per household
- 155,000 tonnes of waste electricals are thrown away in general household rubbish each year
- UK householders could have made £17 billion from second-hand re-sale value of their hoarded electricals – around £620 per household

All old electricals can be reused or recycled and given new life – anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled.
These electrical items contain precious materials that can be recycled into items such as life-saving equipment, bikes or even children’s playgrounds.
Watch below as Downsy explains more about the campaign and why he got involved:
Material Focus is making recycling small old electricals easier than ever before by launching an information hub for the UK, and making it easier for an additional 4.1 million households to access recycling facilities.
Decluttering has become the nation’s favourite sport, and many of us in Bristol - including Downsy - are already bagging up their old electricals to pass on or recycle.
Downsy caught up with renowned photographer Gregg Segal about helping with the campaign:
So join us - bag up your electricals and go to www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk to find your nearest recycling point.
