David Bowie At The Movies

david bowie films

David Bowie was not just a Starman in music but in movies too.

His death in January 2016 was not just a loss felt by music, but fans of his big-screen exploits.

Bowie had a unique screen presence and some of the greatest directors wanted him in their productions, including Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese.

So grab your popcorn and sit back as we take you down memory lane to re-live some of his most famous, and lesser known roles that were as varied as his 25 albums.

Labyrinth (1986)
Bowie’s involvement as the Goblin King Jareth was so central to its development, the film’s writer, Terry Jones of ‘Monty Python‘ fame, rewrote the script to allow more screen time for the character and for his songs, and when Bowie reportedly felt the script lacked humour, it was again rewritten to keep him onside.
