The South West reacts to 'devastating' fire at Notre Dame in Paris

Cathedrals and emergency services across the South West have been showing their support to the French overnight.

World leaders are offering France their condolences and help to rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral.

Theresa May says her thoughts are with the people of the country, as they assess the damage caused by an enormous fire.

The French President has vowed to reconstruct the medieval building after emergency services managed to save part of it.

One of the richest men in France is donating 100m Euros - or £86m - to Notre Dame's reconstruction.

François-Henri Pinault, who's married to the actress Salma Hayek, says he wants to "revive the jewel of our heritage", and see the cathedral completely rebuilt.

He's the chairman and CEO of the Kering group, which owns fashion labels including Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.

Anne Cranston, Head of Projects at Gloucester Cathedral told us they've been saying prayers for the famous landmark all day, and that the incident has made them think about their own safety measures.

She also thinks that the donations made towards the refurbishment are very encouraging, but that the job ahead shouldn't be underestimated - press play below to hear Anne talk about this some more.

Locally, many of our emergency services and Cathedrals - including Gloucester - have been reacting on social media to what happened:
