Thursday, June 27th

Event Summary

The next get together of the Reading branch, on Thursday 27th June, is an open evening on the subject of ‘Photographs and Memorabilia’. Members and visitors are invited to bring along their favourite family photograph, or piece of memorabilia, with the story behind it, for an informal night of discussion. We hope this is going to be a fun, interesting and very informative evening. There will be 10 minute slots for people to show their photo or item, and explain more about it.
Maybe you have a photo or item, but no story behind it, just questions. Bring it along, you never know, help may be at hand with tips and clues to guide your way. Please let Vicki know, at reading@berksfhs.org.uk, if you are planning on bringing a photo or item along.

Two days prior to this, Windsor, Slough and Maidenhead branch will be hosting the society's Annual General Meeting at the William East Room, Berkshire College of Agriculture, Hall Place, Burchetts Green, Maidenhead SL6 6QR, on Tuesday 25th June at 7.15pm.
There is ample parking available at the venue, which has a long history and has been the home of the Berkshire College of Agriculture since 1949. Refreshments will be available.
After the AGM there will be a talk by Kathy Chater on ‘Film and Sound archives for the Family Historian’. Film and sound archives are an often forgotten resource available to family historians, which can be a rich stream of information on the past.
So why not come along, meet the Trustees, Officers and Vice-Presidents of your society, and hear first hand how your society is doing, and what it is doing for you and family history research.

We meet at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, 280 Meadway, Tilehurst RG30 4PE. Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.45pm start. All are welcome – free entry, but donations gratefully received. We hope to see you there. Keep an eye on the Society website for events at other branches and in our Centre for Heritage and Family History, www.berksfhs.org.uk, or pop into the Centre for Heritage and Family History, 2nd Floor, Reading Central Library, Abbey Square, Reading RG1 3BQ

Price: free entry, donations gratefully received
