Public File
Sam FM is a regional 'adult alternative' radio station and, under the requirements of our licence agreement with the regulator OFCOM, we are required to keep a public file. This public file is intended to give you an understanding of our music, news and regional content.
Each commercial station also has a 'Format' which governs the station's character of service.
The Public File is available as a print out on request. Any comments on the file can be made to us or Ofcom.

Below are details of how often we broadcast news bulletins and whether they are local, national or international news.
Weekdays
Midnight - 5.00am: National/International News (on the hour, every hour)
6.00am-7pm: Local News (on the hour, every hour)
7.00pm-midnight: National News (on the hour, every hour)
Weekends
Midnight - 6.00am: National/International News (on the hour, every hour)
8.00am-12.00pm: Local News (on the hour, every hour)
1.00pm-midnight: National/International News (on the hour, every hour)

Automation and Local Programming
The Sam FM Breakfast show is locally produced and presented, for more details please click here for the schedule.
Sam FM Drive is live 3pm-7pm and is played out across the Sam FM network of Bristol, Swindon, Thames Valley and the South Coast.
Some weekend programming is recorded, and some is shared across the Sam FM network; but the majority is live and locally produced.
Automated programmes are provided outside of these times, although these may be subject to change.

If you wish to complain about something you heard on Sam FM you should contact the programming team here in the first instance. Your complaint will be fully investigated and swiftly responded to.
